Charlie Brown met the Goose Eggs after he ran away from home and was knocked out by a foul ball hit by pint-sized slugger, Ruby. When these younger kids, Austin, Leland, Milo, and Ruby, learn that Charlie Brown plays baseball, and is even a team manager, they ask him to coach their team. When Ruby learns some baseball terminology, specifically that “goose egg” means zero, she proudly announces that’s what they’ll call their team, “The Goose Eggs!” Charlie Brown decides to help them out and begins coaching them on the fundamentals of the game. He turns out to be a good and respected coach—something he’s not in his own neighborhood. The Goose Eggs even win their very first game… when the other team forfeited because of their age. But still, a win is a win.
The Goose Eggs are the smallest baseball team in the neighborhood.
